Aguleri National Youth Association (ANYA Awka Chapter) yesterday made history in Aguleri.
The association which is an umbrella that binds Aguleri Youths in the State capital through their financial donations, set an enviable record for others to emulate.
The Chapter under the leadership of Comrade Titus Aniukwu donated to the flood victims who were displaced by the current flood ravaging Aguleri Otu Communities.
The kind gesture which was borne out as a necessity to help cushion the effect of the current menace being caused by flood.
The Members of the Association met over 60 IDPs including women and children in the palace of Eziagulu Otu Traditional Ruler; HRH Igwe Lawrence Nwakpa (Ochiagha Eziagulu Otu).
Speaking to the crowd, ANYA Awka Chapter Chairman sympathized with the families and encouraged them never to lose hope because the future will always be bright.
The sum of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) cash was presented to Igwe Ochiagha on behalf of the flood victims who are currently displaced by flood.
Igwe Lawrence thanked the Members of the Association for initiating such a wonderful idea which will definitely impact the lives of the flood victims and also show them that they're being remembered by their sons from Awka.
The President General of Mkpunando Aguleri, Hon. Chimezie Joseph on behalf of the Traditional Ruler of the Community; HRH Igwe Johnson O. Mbanefo ( Ezedioramma Mkpunando) received the Members of the Association in the palace.
The victims were not also left out as the sum of N100,000 ( One Hundred Thousand Naira) cash was presented to the president General on behalf of the flood victims.
Hon Chimezie thanked the Members of the Association for finding the Community worthy to benefit from the kind gesture. He also promised to share the fund to the victims.
The PG used the opportunity to appeal to other Associations, Churches, Government and individuals to please emulate ANYA Awka Chapter and come to the aid of these victims especially the children and the aged ones who need drugs and medical attentions but can't due to lack of funds.
Enugwu Otu Aguleri Community flood victims were not left out of the kind gesture.
Members of the Association headed to the royal palace of HRH Igwe Emmanuel Ejiofor (Igwe Omelora 1) of Enugwu Otu Aguleri where Members of the Association met a large crowd of the Community who are displaced from their comfort zones by the flood.
The sum of N100,000 ( One Hundred Thousand Naira) cash was as well presented to the traditional Ruler on behalf of the flood victims.
The PG of Enugwu Otu Aguleri Community; Hon Nnamdi Ikeli thanked the Association which he is also part of. He prayed that those that contributed towards the remarkable gesture will know no lack in their businesses and all their endeavors.
