Once upon a long while, God in His Infinite Mercy and wisdom endows society with a person who embodies and reflects the yearnings and aspirations of that society. Such a person stirs society and draws it from its supine position where it is mired in its old failed ways of doing things and sets off the drumbeats of progress. The same person, driven and dedicated, energises the society with his power to motivate and move all other members of that society , and marches the society gliding down the erstwhile difficult path towards progress and greatness. Naturally such people are rare.
But Aguleri Community has always been lucky to have such exceptional figures like Fr. Tansi, Prof. Michael Obiefune, Late Lawrence Okechi, Mike Ejor to mention but a few. Such personality is also embodied in the person of High Chief Tony Chuma Oli, Omenokochi Aguleri, the Vice Chairman Ogene Ivite foundation.
Born on April 29th....., into the Oli Family of Isiokwe Ivite Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State. He did his primary school at Premier primary, school Ivite Aguleri and subsequently attended a secondary school in Onitsha. In search of further education, young Tony was able to pass his O level and JAMB to be admitted to the prestigious University of Nigeria in the Department of Banking and Finance where he graduated with flying colours.
The young Tony was posted to Bauchi for NYSC and later redeployed to Lagos state after his orientation camp.
And not too long after his Youth service, he was employed by Zenith Bank PLC where he worked for few years before moving to Bank PHB, his knowledge in the banking business started expanding to the extent that he was promoted to divisional head, branch operations of Keystone bank PLC. His position in the bank was used to touch the lives of many in our society, thus creating employment for many Agulerians.
During the administration of Chief Willy Obiano as the Governor of Anambra State, Tony Oli utilized his wealth of experience to manage the Joint account of local and state governments throughout the first tenure without any leakage. He was strongly behind the successful first tenure of Obiano with the way he managed the resources of Anambra State.and Oli became a household name in Anambra and Nigeria in general. When he was moved to Sports ministry in Obiano's second tenure ,he built one of the best stadia in the country.
Oli was the first person to lift Ijele in the history of Ijenoke crowd funding competition in Ivite Aguleri. He donated cash, and other items to his community and sponsored many students. Such as Ichie, a goal keeper he is currently training in a football academy Abuja. He has granted scholarship to
many indigent but bright students within the last few years. He is the chairman of Lawrence Okechi ETF of Ogene Ivite forum.
He has become the darling of Youth and Women whom he empowers on a yearly basis: some getting free loans to start their own business, some receivingp funds and food items(particularly for the widows).
In recognition of his benevolence to this, he was conferred a chieftaincy title" Omenokochi Aguleri" a name he has always lived up to.
