HOW KIDNAPPERS BLINDFOLDED ME FOR 4 DAYS, SAID THEY WERE LOOKING FOR MONEY TO BAIL NNAMDI KANU- VICTIM NARRATES ORDEAL

By Dr Innocent Chidumebi Okonkwo.

Mr Obinna Anyagbuo an Indigene of Igboezunu Aguleri in Anambra State, has narrated to The OMT reporters how he was kidnapped while driving at Nsugbe "T" Junction in Anambra East local government area on 1st July 2023 and released on 5th July, 2023 after spending 5 days in captivity.

He narrated how the Kidnappers stopped some vehicles at the popular T Junction that leads to Nsugbe town from Nneyi around 6 pm and took him away in his car.

“ I thought it was a police checkpoint, but as soon as i stopped, i saw men coming out from the bush with AK-47 raffles, and I got scared. I began to apologize to them.

“ I saw only three men who rushed me with gun. They pointed at me and picked me out of other road users".

“I did not know that some of them were lying low by the roadside, hiding behind the tall grasses.

”They ordered me to come down from the vehicle and as soon as I alighted, I heard the Kidnappers shouting: ka anyi puo!  ‘let’s go! Move !! move !! Ngwa!! Oya!! They spoke Igbo language,” He narrated.

"That was when it dawned on me that I was attacked. The  kidnappers blindfolded me pushed me back to the vehicle and zoomed off. After some minutes drive, they stopped and marched me towards the bush".

"I was only aware that we were walking in the bush but I was not seeing, they were just dragging me as I was blindfolded. walking and shoving in the thick forest for nearly 1 hour in that evening".

"They eventually stopped at a location .They asked me to sleep there and at dawn, I noticed there were more than 5 captives in their camp".

“They collected my phones.

After that, they asked me to provide the contact numbers of my relatives. They were going to ask them for money, and once it was provided, they would release me, that was their promise".

“They told me they had began the business of calling my relatives one after the other, demanding for the ransom. Which according to them would be used to bail Nnamdi Kanu. They said there was no network in the location where we were kept so they were going out of the place to make calls".

"I stayed for five days and they were serving me with beans. While we got talking, their leader got annoyed when I told them that we were brothers as he spoke  Omabala dialect like me. The leader told me that he would shoot me if i repeated that. He said they don't mix business with brotherhood".

"The victim said he didn't know how much ransom was collected from his relatives at the time of filling this report as he was still in shock. But that he was released after five days and when they untied the cloth on his face, he could not see yet they ordered him to move quickly or they would shoot him.

"They gave me my car key, and told me a location to carry it.Iam greateful to every Agulerian who contributed to my release", he concluded.

BISHOP DENIS ISIZOH, OF CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF AGULERI PREACHES AKULUOUNO STRATEGY AND AGULERI FOUNDATION OF NORTH AMERICA RESPONDS.*

The New Bishop of the newly Erected Catholic Diocese of Aguleri, Most. Rev. Dr. Denis Isozoh, in his message, following his recent visit (4 weeks ago to the US), which he again reiterated through Sr. Ada and Sr. Asike, reminded AFNA members that “we have a new diocese and all of us in the diocese, regardless of religious belief, have to put hands together to build it for the benefit of education and social development of our people, especially our children, and our dioceses.

In what has become known as his *Akuluouno strategy*, the Bishop, through the sisters reiterated that: “All of us under the Catholic Diocese of Aguleri (regardless of town as long as you are within the Diocese), *individually*, should join hands to *collectively* build our Diocese, through small weekly offering to theDiocese of Aguleri.

And even for non-Catholics who do not want to give to the Catholic Church, then they should give to their denominations at home.

He says that by the weekly offering strategy, people do not need to find new money to give to their home Diocese and churches, but just divide in two parts what they give to their churches where they currently reside, and return that half home to their home church.

*”Even it is $2 every week, or N1k weekly, divide it in two, and send half home weekly as your private offering to your home church.”* He reiterated that all of the churches use the resources for God’s work to develop the Diocese in all God’s People places of worship, and in the Pastoral work they do.

And that with such regular small money every Sunday, when we give offering every Sunday in our churches, we can all put hands together to build our Diocese little by little, * with a focus on Education, Education, Education.*

Speaking through his representatives, the President of Aguleri Foundation of North America (AFNA) Mr. Emma Ivenso responded by saying “AFNA is fully in support of Bishop Isizoh in the Pastoral work agenda, and the journey has just begun” as he announced the transfer of the members freewill donations of N5.5m and a 33-capacity Transformer to support the newly Erected St. Joseph Cathedral of the Diocese of Aguleri.

He also encouraged members to imbibe Bishop Isizoh’s Akuluouno strategy and start their private pledges of making and sending their weekly offerings to the Diocese Project Account in the US.

Bishop Isizoh thanked all AFNA for their donation in response saying “ Your message brought me great joy. Anyị ebidogo ọlụ. Our Diocese is marching forward. I thank AFNA immensely. Please extend my gratitude to all who are involved in promoting this initiative. God bless you all. +C. Denis ISIZOH (Aguleri Diocese)”.
