A woman of over 60 years, Roseline Obalim, his daughter, Ngozi Ivediegwu ( 44 years)  and grand Child, Christian Ivediegwu ( 22 years)  have died of suspected food poisoning at their residence in Isiokwe Ivite community, Anambra East Anambra State.

A member of the family, Mr Joseph Obalim told OMT reporters that the victims neighbours observed that the three deceased were rolling on the floor after eating an okra soup they prepared in their house.

Joseph said trouble started when his late mother, his late sister and her son had taken their dinner and went to sleep.

According to Obalim, a neighbor called his elder brother around 12:30 am last Saturday and said that his Mother and sister were groaning in pain and rolling on the floor.

" My elder brother who is a priest had to drive to Isiokwe Ivite at the odd hour and took three of them to a hospital in Ayamelum"

Obalim said his nephew died in the early hours of the same day, Saturday, 22nd July 2023.

"My Mother and my sister were subsequently transferred to Amaku teaching hospital Awka the following Sunday. Unfortunately, we lost two of them the following  Monday and the Doctor confirmed they had consumed food poison".

However, a community leader, who craved anonymity, described the victims’ death as shocking to members of the community.
