A vigilante operative has been killed by a group of rampaging hoodlums in Anambra State yesterday, Thursday 14th July 2023.
The victim identified as Ossy Isidenu, aged 45 and popularly known as Ossy Alumaco was a member of Eziagulu Aguleri vigilante group.
Information from an eye witness who spoke on the condition of anonymity said he was reporting to duty around 10 pm when the gun men were driving along the Eziagulu -Isiokwe express road. He said the gun men who were four in number sighted the vigilante officer and reversed their vehicle. They shot him dead and collected his pump action"
On Thursday, June 29th 2023, which was barely two days after gunmen released one Mr Chinonso Uba. There was a similar incident of kidnapping in Aguleri junction. An Indigene of Enugu State was kidnapped by the gunmen.
It was gathered that the victim was trailed from Onitsha to Aguleri junction where he was kidnapped.
Barely two days after this particular incident, the group also kidnapped one Obinna Anyagbuo from Igboezunu Aguleri at Nsugbe "T" Junction, blindfolded him and kept him in captivity for 5 days before releasing him for ransom.
The neighbouring communities in Omabala have severally raised alarms over a den of kidnapers in a bush near Mmiata Anam. Mmiata is in Anambra west and is a border community with Aguleri , Umueri, Nsugbe and other communities in Anambra East local government area of Anambra State. The bush had become a safe haven for gunmen operating in Anambra State. Police had made an attempt in the past to dislodge them but all to no avail.
