Nigerian Entrepreneur Launches New Social Media Platform Targeting Domestic Users
Enugwu Aguleri, Nigeria: A young Nigerian entrepreneur, Lawrence Ozeh, has launched a new social network website, Nelogram, aiming to challenge the dominance of established services and capture the domestic market. Lawrence Ozeh, a member of the Ogene media team and SEO specialist, hopes to carve a niche for Nelogram as a platform "built for meaningful connections, deep conversations, and life-changing stories" within Africa and its diaspora.
The launch comes after careful planning and self-funded bootstrapping. Ozeh declined a 6 million naira investment from a group earlier fearing financial risk if the platform deviated from his vision. He intends to grow organically and attract further investment based on proven success. Nelogram was founded on 15 November 2021.
"The website launched today as an antecedent of that same desire to build a social community for Africa," Lawrence Ozeh stated at the unveiling, addressing journalists. He described Nelogram as a modern alternative to existing platforms, targeting outdated competitors like Nairaland with "amazing features and direct messaging" tailored to user needs.
Ozeh is confident in Nelogram's potential, acknowledging the 800 million monthly page views of Nairaland but criticizing its design and perceived negative aspects. He believes Nelogram's superior user experience and focus on meaningful connections will win over audiences in the long run.
The launch was warmly received by Ozeh's network, with special thanks extended to the initial investors and influential individuals who supported the project. He expressed admiration for their willingness to contribute, highlighting the spirit of collaboration and community.
