The Senator representing Anambra North in the Senate, Dr Tony Okechukwu Nwoye on Sunday, 31st December 2023 attended the annual Aguleri youth Day at Ugwunadegbe Primary school field in Aguleri Anambra East local Government Area of Anambra State.
Speaking during the ceremony, Senator Nwoye said that he was a youth leader in Nigeria at a very young age and described the event as a time when the Youths are celebrated as the future of the society and their exceptional services to the community.
The Senator who was well received by the National President of Aguleri National Youth Association, Comrade Cornelius Emeka Chinwuba (Omekantinu) and other stakeholders from the community pledged to sponsor the program for at least 4 years as long as he remains the Senator of the Anambra North constituency.
"You will start cooking food in your subsequent Youth events. You will drink and make yourselves happy. I will pay for the food to feed every body that will attend the occasion in the next 4 years. I will also sponsor the entertainment aspect and reward the artists. What you will do is to give me the estimate and I will pay".
Nwoye added that Aguleri youth body has brought fame, dignity, development and glamour to Aguleri community.
Member Representing Anambra East Constituency in the Anambra State House Of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Obi Nweke (Elegelede) who also attended the event commended the national President of Aguleri Youths, Comrade Emeka Chinwuba and his Exco members for the wonderful event.
He supported the Youth Day with the sum of N100k and promised to do more next year.
On his own, the CEO of Prince Amechi Michael Properties, Prince Amechi Omazu who was accompanied by his staff made a pledge of N2m to support the 2023 youth program.
The 5 traditional rulers of Aguleri were present with their cabinet members as HRM Eze Dr Mike Idigo ( Ezeudo Aguleri) performed the traditional breaking of cola on behalf of other traditional rulers: HRM Eze Augustine Chukwuemeka Eri, HRH Igwe Lawrence Nwofia, HRH Igwe Johnson Mbanefo, HRH Igwe Igbago Ejor. Also in the occasion were the President Generals of Aguleri 5 communities and their youth Chairmen led by Barr Rolex Ifeanyi Iloakasia.
The highlight of the occasion was the live performances of Romeo Max, Slog Dogg, Skido Kpua, Natty, Remy C, Slanzykelly, MC Salaka, DJ Shokor and many more.
The 2023 youth football competition which was sponsored by the management of Villa point Hotels Ltd was won by Ameze team while Eziagulu Otu and Enugwu Otu teams emerged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
