Witchcraft as excuse for not helping the old people in our community has been going on for many years. Some people believe that when they give their money to the old people, such money will be used for fetish spiritual activities which will have a negative affect on their source of income.
The people with such believe, even when it becomes unavoidable for them to give to the old, they dodge giving their money directly to the elderly people for the fear of using such money for "bad juju".
However, an Aguleri born philanthropist, Chief Gabriel Mabia has dispelled such belief, saying that some of the old people that appear unkept is because of lack of fund to take care of themselves and not in any way associated with witchcraft. According to him, God has been blessing him since he started his philanthropic works. He urged other young men to follow suit.
