Enugwu-otu Aguleri Celebrates its Ekpe Cultural Festival

The Ekpe cultural festival in Enugwu-Otu Aguleri, Anambra State, stands as a vibrant testament to the rich heritage and enduring traditions of the Igbo people. This annual celebration not only showcases the community's cultural wealth but also reinforces social bonds, spiritual beliefs, and communal identity.

Ekpe festival is normally celebrated between March and May. This means that it normally falls during the Easter period. Aguleri natives sometimes call it Nzidoani (return to roots).

The Ekpe festival traces its origins to ancient times, rooted in the customs and spiritual practices of the Igbo people. Traditionally, the festival served as a medium for community members to connect with their ancestors, seek blessings for the coming year, and reaffirm societal values.
